Day of Bore...dom

Today was pretty boring. It wasn't great but it wasn't a worst day either. Work is different without Swan there. With Heimdur there, it feels a bit more strained. I think it's because I've gotten used to working for Swan and living with her. I love the way she listens and when I talk to her it's as if nobody else is there. She really listens. With Heimdur, it's not so much that way. It's funny too because he used to be one of my supervisors when I worked in Hell (the college bookstore). He was my favorite supervisor in Hell, too...which makes it even weirder that I feel more stressed working under him now. I'm sure it'll be easier when things start to feel normal. I'm so glad that Penguin works with me. Anytime I get flustered or have a question about something, Penguin is either there working, in class or at home, so he's always at least a text or call away.

Today began with a groggy morning. One of mine and Penguins four cats, Toshi, insisted on meowing all night and all morning. He drives me crazy. I feel bad that I'm not as attached to him as the other four cats but it's partly because he's so fucking annoying most of the time. As far as I can tell, he's just doing it for attention, which I believe is the WORST reason. I could feel sorry if it was because he wasn't feeling good or was extremely unhappy but we give that cats lots of attention and he insists on crying constantly anyways. So annoying. The neighbors probably thing some poor child is getting beat here because of how much I yell at Toshi. I feel bad about it sometimes but...I don't know. Maybe it's just that I don't want to appear bad. He yells so I do too. That's all it is. Whatever.

Anyways, we barely got any sleep last night, so when 7am, then 7:10, then 7:20 came, along with the peppy and oh-so-inappropriate "Good Morning" music ringtone, I wanted to choke the damn cat.

That's about right...

...yeah...

We begrudgingly got up and dressed and grabbed some packets of oatmeal to make at work for breakfast, some Ramen for lunch (I hate being broke) and cinnamon poptarts for a snack. Then we were out the door and in route to work. About 10 minutes later, we arrived at the college and went upstairs, where Heimdur was already at.I'm so used to Swan getting there around 9 or 10 that it was kind of weird to see the place already hopping at 8am. Penguin got started by opening everything up and turning the ID card machine on and opening the ASB computer lab. I wrote the day's schedule on the board and checked the meeting rooms. I spent loads of time doing almost NOTHING while Penguin posted to his assigned bulletin boards. When he was done with the boards, I took him in the golf cart to the campus print shop, because Scott needed some help. I then posted to my bulletin boards. I got to the first boards and realized I forgot the damn key. Again. Fuck. So I just posted what I could on the other side and around the locked part and couldn't get into the gym because it was locked so I was pretty much done. I forgot that whoever is assigned to the Student Activities Center never ever does their fucking boards so I did some of that too. It killed a lot of time and had to stop to take lunch.

By the way...there are a LOT of staples in those boards. Why do I know this? Because I have to remove ALL of them. I need a drink. lol.

After lunch, I did a few I.D. cards and delivered some Fall class schedules to Admissions and Records, because they were running low and requested 20 bundles. They got 6. Those things are heavy.

After that fun stuff, I helped Penguin set up room "D" because it was just audience seating (all chairs) and needed it to be a U-Shape table/chair setup. We started that around 4ish and finished around 4:35, so that was pretty cool. The only other things to do were shut things down around 4:55 and print a friend's resume out using the work computers, printer and printer paper. Heh.

After kicking some people out of the lab and rounding up all of our things, Penguin and I took off for home. After approximately 8 minutes, we arrived home and I changed. Then Penguin remembered (with my help) that he needed to go to try to get a payday advance. We got there too late so we're going to try again tomorrow after work.

Speaking of work, I got my schedule for next week. Off Monday and working 8am through 2pm Tuesday through Friday (with an hour lunch). Sounds good to me!

UGH And All The Things That Accompany It

I applied for my old security job today. I think it went pretty well. About 6 years ago I used to do event security at various venues around Southern California. Ozzfest, KROQ Weenie Roast, Inland Invasion, Journey, The Rolling Stones, football games, basketball games, festivals, you name it. It took awhile to find the place only because the directions are a bit misleading. While the address showed that the place was on Orangewood, the place was actually in back, off of a street behind Orangewood. It also shared an address with a completely different building. What the fuck? So, me and Penguin go to check out building, let's say 1234. We look at the building with the address 1234 and it has two offices in it, as shown from the outside. There's a lighting company and some other company that was definitely not security. So then I look across the street and the building directly across the street had the same fucking address, which makes no sense but whatever. We walk across the street and go in and apply. As we are filling out our job applications, there is a lady in the background yelling at someone on the phone, saying that she needs a list of people who are getting denied a job so that when people call to check up on the job, she can just tell them right off that they were denied. Awesome. I gotta say,...that was really encouraging. So we turn in our applications, get some papers with some info about guard cards, uniforms, etc and leave to go back home, which is roughly an hour and a half away.

There was some horrific traffic for like...half an hour, which we discovered was due to moronic people rubbernecking. I said to Penguin "What do people get out of staring at cars stopped on the side of the road? It's not you're going to go home and discuss the person changing their tire on the side of the road with your family because...nobody would give a shit. So then what's the goddamn point?" So stupid...

Now me and Penguin are trying to apply for any loan or payday advance we can get because it's about 3 weeks until the next payday and we're completely broke. This sucks. I tried applying for a loan at Wells Fargo but I was denied. I have 2 hospital bills that I need to pay off plus a debt from an old bank account. I used to have an account with WaMu about 6 years ago, but my wallet was stolen and my card was used (because I had my pin# hidden in my wallet) and WaMu held ME responsible. Balls, I say. So now I have these three debts that are making my credit score really shitty and not allowing me to get any type of advance or loan. Or credit card. I don't really know what I'm going to do until payday. I'm screwed.

Me and Penguin are taking a second room in this house. Because we have four cats, the house smells that way. Not bad, but noticeable that there are animals. Because of this, Swan feels that she wouldn't be able to rent the third room in the house out. So Penguin and I are going to rent that one too. We are going to make it our office/gaming room/library/whatever. Our bedroom will just be a bedroom. A place to...bed. Yeah. We are really excited about having a second room. Currently, our bedroom consists of a full-size bed, a medium size desk, a large desk, two 7 foot tall bookshelves, a short little entertainment system with our flatscreen tv, two matching nightstands and a nightstand holding our mini-fridge. After putting many of these things into the other room, we will only have the bed, which we plan on replacing with a King, the nightstands and mini-fridge, and we're going to pull our dressers out of the walk-in closet and place them in the room. In the office/library, we will put the desks next to each other, with the backs to the room; we'll put a couch along the back of the desks and put the tv/entertainment system in the open closet. Then we'll place the bookshelves on opposite ends of the room. My bookshelf goes next to my desk, his goes next to his. It should work out nicely. We plan on getting another fridge and placing it in the garage. The roomies buy a lot of food and it takes up all of the main fridge but one shelf, which is our shelf. Even with the mini-fridge, that's not much room for us. Right now, me and Penguin are talking and dreaming about how awesome it will be to do the things we want to do, decoration-wise. I'm going to dream with him...

Oy

Shit never really gets easier.
